In a recent development, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the appointment of Mr. Ola Olukoyede as the new Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Additionally, the President has approved the appointment of Muhammad Hammajoda as the Secretary of the EFCC, on a renewable term of five years.
Mr. Ola Olukoyede is taking over the reins of the EFCC from Mr. Abdulkarim Chukkol, who served as the Acting Chairman of the organization. Prior to his appointment, Olukoyede held the position of Chief of Staff to the former Acting Executive Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, and was the Secretary to the Commission. He brings to the role a wealth of experience, having worked as a seasoned lawyer for over 22 years. Olukoyede’s expertise lies in regulatory compliance, fraud management, and corporate intelligence, making him well-equipped to lead the EFCC.
Muhammad Hammajoda, the newly appointed Secretary of the EFCC, was the Director of Finance and Accounts of the Commission before this promotion. Hammajoda is an accomplished public administrator with extensive experience in public finance management. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Maiduguri and a Master’s in Business Administration from the same institution. He began his career as a lecturer at the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, and later transitioned into banking before serving as a public servant.
Both Olukoyede and Hammajoda come with impressive credentials and backgrounds that make them well-suited for their new roles as anti-corruption leaders within the EFCC. With their extensive experience in relevant fields, they are poised to contribute significantly to the mission of combating financial crimes and promoting transparency in Nigeria.
