Atamu Social Club, a leading non-profit socio-cultural organization with a vision to be the leading socio-cultural organization championing unity and sustainable development of the Urhobo Nation, has announced the election of its new executives. The club’s new leadership was elected in March 2023 and includes:
- Mr. Matthew Ogagaworia as President
- Dr. Benson Uwheru as Vice President
- Mr. Edwin Efekokha as General Secretary
- Mr. Valmon Toby-Lade as Treasurer
- Mr. Celestine Okorigba as Financial Secretary
- Captain Jonathan Nani as Publicity Secretary
- Mr. Igho Obajuwana as Provost
- Dr. Philip Ejogbamu as Assistant Secretary
As part of the new leadership’s agenda, Atamu Social Club is set to host its 11th annual retreat on May 24th – 28th, 2023. The theme for this year’s retreat is “Ekpobaro 2023: Industrialising Urhobo Land Through Entertainment & Tourism.”
According to Dr. Benson Uwheru, the Vice President and Chairman of the retreat committee, the theme is focused on exploring the potential of the entertainment and tourism industries in promoting economic growth in Urhobo land. The guest speaker for the event will be Prof. Sunny Awhefeada, a renowned scholar and expert in tourism and cultural studies.
In addition to the retreat, Atamu Social Club is partnering with an NGO to provide a free medical outreach program for the community. The retreat will also be hosting the 7th Finishing School for young people, where they will be taught website design and digital marketing skills.
