The presidential candidate of APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has been accused of not believing in keeping simple agreements.
He is also never a team player, alleges Chief Adesunbo Onitiri, Convener and Secretary, Lagos State Prominent Indigenes, in a Press Statement in Lagos yesterday.
Expressing his opinion, Onitiri remarked: “l remember vividly in1999 after the ‘rancorous primary elections of 1999 of AD party in which Bola Tinubu was declared the winner.
“The other gubernatorial contestants namely late Engineer Funsho Williams, Omoluabi Eko and late Senator, Dr Wahab Dosunmu, hurriedly went to court to challenge the alleged victory of Bola Tinubu.”
Onitiri recalled that Lagos State would have been thrown into turmoil and chaos because of their political imbroglio.
“As the secretary of Lagos State Prominent indigenes, I swung into action. I consulted with prominent elders and summoned a mediatory meeting of the three warring lords, namely Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Engineer Funsho Williams and Dr. Wahab Dosunmu.
“The meeting was held in the house of our Elder, Alhaji Musliu Anibaba, and attended by Alhaji Idris Animashaun.”
Onitiri recalled that several reconciliatory meetings were held. Engr Funsho Williams brought Mr Tokunbo Marinho, whilst Dr Wahab Dosunmu brought Dr Yomi Finnih. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu came with late Alhaji Kafaru Tinubu, his uncle to the meeting.
He said the sitting was able to reconcile the warring Lords. “We all agreed that the three of them should run the affairs of the state together and share some portfolios amongst them.
“Engineer Funsho Williams and Dr Wahab Dosunmu agreed with the outcome of the meeting. They withdrew their cases from the courts and teamed up with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to win the governoship election,” he further recalled.
“Regrettably, immediately Asiwaju Tinubu became the governor of Lagos State, he reneged on all the agreements. He changed all his phone contacts so that he could not be reached, he alleged.
According to the Lagos State Prominent Indigenes’ Secretary, “Even the Afenifere leaders that helped Tinubu and declared him winner of the primary election were all jettisoned and rubbished.
“He became lord to himself and very uncontrollable. From all available facts then, it was Engineer Funsho Williams that won the primary election. The rest are now history,” Onitiri concluded.
