Niger Delta youth Council calls for the Resignation of CEO/MD NNPC Limited Mele Kyiari; calls for the immediate withdrawal of Duke oil license and demands Compensation to Motorists over the circulation of bad fuel in the country.
The Niger Delta Youth Council (NDYC) has called on the CEO/MD of NNPC, Mele Kyiari to take responsibility for the circulation of bad fuel which has caused massive fuel scarcity and damage to motorists’ vehicles within the Capital City, Abuja and other major cities in the country and with immediate effect, tender a letter of apology and resignation from office.
In a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Comrade Joshua Akowien, the NDYC made this known, citing the damages the circulation of bad fuel has caused motorists in the country and how the scarcity has affected the economy as well small and medium enterprises.
“Nigeria, being a nation without stable electricity has left Businesses to rely mainly on generators for operations and with the massive fuel scarcity in the country, has halted so many business operations or overnight jacked up the price of services and commodities thereby, causing inflation in the economy. This is however unacceptable also considering the fact that the companies Mele Kyiari accused have all individually denied importing adulterated fuel into the country leaving just Duke Oil Limited, which is the official trading company of the NNPC.”
“The impact on Nigerians over the importation of adulterated fuel by Mele Kyari led NNPC and Duke oil has been enormous as several motorists’ vehicles have been damaged by the adulterated fuel causing unplanned cost and an overnight hike not just in PMS but in goods and services.”
We hereby demand:
• That Mele Kyari and Duke Oil takes full responsibility for their actions and tender an unreserved apology to Nigerians.
• That Mele Kyari with immediate effect, tender a letter of resignation or be sacked by the federal government and prosecuted by the law for sabotage.
• That Duke Oil’s license be withdrawn with immediate effect and its executives be prosecuted by the law for sabotage.
• Motorists whose cars have been damaged be compensated for the damage (this can be achieved through technology, by motorists submitting data through an online portal and investigations carried on their cars to ensure they were really damaged before being compensated).
• The immediate circulation of unadulterated fuel around the country to stop the ques in fuel stations.
Failure to comply with these demands will warrant necessary protest actions at the NNPC headquarters in Abuja.
